Write a short practice paper of five questions on the poem (two short answers, two stanza-based questions and one long answer), each with a one-line mark scheme listing the points a good answer needs. Do not quote the poem.
Give each question a different command word, and make each mark scheme list specific points rather than general praise.
Under timed conditions of twenty minutes, write an answer of about 250 words to the question Discuss the importance of the train journey in the poem. Then mark it with the checklist of command word, evidence, effect, shift and conclusion.
