What does flying height refer to?
Think about what height the plane is at when taking pictures.
How does an increase in flying height affect the scale of photographs?
Consider what happens when you move further away from an object.
What is the flying height?
Think about what the term 'height' refers to in terms of altitude.
True or False: Higher flying heights result in more detail in photographs.
Recall the relationship between distance and clarity.
Aerial photography requires capturing detailed images of a historical site 30 m high using a camera with a focal length of 75mm. If the aircraft flies at a height of 400 m, what is the effective scale and how does it impact your analysis of the site?
Consider how the height of the site affects the relation to the flying height.
You have a mapping project in a remote location, and the terrain is uneven. If the average height above sea level is 200m, but with some peaks at 500m, how would you decide your flying height to ensure detail is captured?
Consider balancing between the highest point and building an average.
