Interjections are words or phrases that convey strong emotion or surprise and function outside the grammatical structure of a sentence.
This section focuses on the definition and usage of interjections, highlighting their role in expressing emotions and how they are punctuated in writing. Interjections typically utilize exclamation marks or commas to denote the intensity of the emotion conveyed.
Interjections are fascinating components of speech that allow us to express strong emotions, excitement, surprise, or feelings in a succinct manner. Examples include expressions like 'Wow!', 'Oh no!', and 'Ouch!'. Unlike other parts of speech, interjections do not grammatically relate to other words in a sentence, often standing alone to convey emotion or reaction.
Understanding interjections enhances one's ability to convey emotions in both speaking and writing, enriching the expressive quality of language.
