5 cards from this section. Quick, good the night before a test.
Put these stages in the correct order: anaphase, interphase, telophase, metaphase, cytokinesis, prophase.
Remember IPMAT, then the cytoplasm divides.
What happens to the DNA during interphase?
Each new cell will need a complete set of instructions.
Which shows the four stages of mitosis in the correct order?
PMAT.
In which stage do the chromosomes line up along the equator of the cell?
Metaphase sounds like 'middle'.
Under the microscope, a student sees three cells. In cell A, V-shaped chromosomes are moving towards opposite ends of the cell. In cell B, two groups of chromosomes are surrounded by new nuclear membranes and a cell plate is forming. In cell C, the chromosomes are lined up across the middle of the cell. Name the stage of each cell, put the cells in order, and explain the evidence for each.
Look for clues about where the chromosomes are and whether nuclear membranes are present.
A classmate writes: "Bacteria grow in number by mitosis, just like our skin cells." Explain what is wrong with this statement and how bacterial cell division differs from mitosis.
Ask whether a bacterium has a nucleus to divide.
