2 cards from this section. Quick, good the night before a test.
Define one-dimensional flow in your own words.
Think about how the fluid behaves in a straight pipe.
Write down Bernoulli's equation.
Remember the three energy terms it relates together.
What does Bernoulli's equation relate?
Remember the components of energy in a fluid system.
In one-dimensional flow, how do properties vary?
Consider how fluids behave in pipes or ducts.
An open tank, 2 meters high, has a hole at 1 meter height where water flows out. If the water level drops to 1.5 meters, what is the velocity of the water exiting the hole? (Assume g = 9.81 m/s²)
Remember to use the height difference to calculate the exit velocity.
A circular pipe narrows from a diameter of 1 meter to 0.5 meters. If the fluid velocity before the narrowing is 3 m/s, calculate the velocity in the narrower section.
Use the area and velocity relationship based on the conservation of mass.
