Question 1.
Define vector processing in one sentence.
Show hintHide hint
Think about how it differs from standard processing.
Question 2.
What is a vector register?
Show hintHide hint
Consider its role in enhancing processing speed.
3Question 3.
What is vector processing?
- A technique to process data sequentially.
- A method of executing multiple instructions at once.
- A method that applies a single instruction to multiple data elements.
Show hintHide hint
Focus on how it operates on data elements.
4Question 4.
True or False: Vector length affects how many data elements can be processed at once in vector processing.
- True
- False
Show hintHide hint
Consider what vector length means largely.
Question 5.
If a vector register can hold 8 data elements and a processor uses vector processing to compute tasks involving 64 elements, how many cycles will it need to process all data?
Show hintHide hint
Divide the total elements by the capacity of the vector register.
Question 6.
Discuss the implications of increasing vector length on computational tasks in scientific research. How would different research fields benefit?
Show hintHide hint
Consider how time efficiency plays a role in research outcomes.
