Today, we're going to discuss resources. Can anyone tell me what they think a resource is?
I think resources are things we need to get work done.
Exactly, resources include anything that helps us achieve our goals. Now, resources can be classified into two categories: human and non-human. How would you define each?
Human resources are things like knowledge and skills, right?
Correct! And non-human resources include things like money and materials. This leads us to the first memory aid: think of 'HUMAN' for knowledge and skills, and 'MONEY' for the material resources we need.
Now, let’s discuss planning. Can anyone tell me why planning is important in resource management?
Isn’t it to help us reach our goals more effectively?
Absolutely! Planning allows us to visualize our goals and identify the resources required to achieve them. For remembering this, think 'PILLAR' for Planning to Identify Limits and Resources.
What happens if we don't plan?
Great question! Without planning, we may waste resources and miss our goals. It creates a gap between where we are now and where we want to be.
Now let’s get into the steps of planning. What do you think the first step is?
Identifying the problem?
Correct! The first step is identifying the problem or gap. Can someone tell me the next step?
Listing out alternatives?
Yes! We need alternatives to consider. For a mnemonic, remember 'I CAN' for Identify, Choose, Act, and Navigate. These steps help in creating a structured approach to planning.
Planning is key, it's easy to see, helps you achieve, and set your goals free.
Imagine a student preparing for exams without a plan. They stumble over books, miss important deadlines, and feel lost. But with a clear plan, they succeed in balancing study and leisure, achieving their desired grades.
Remember 'CAPS' for the planning steps: Create, Assess, Plan, Succeed.
PILLAR for Planning: Problem, Identify, List, alternatives, Act, Review.
