What happens when you add more reactant to a system at equilibrium?
Think of what will happen to the 'balance' of the reaction.
Explain what Le Chatelier's Principle states in your own words.
Consider how a scale balances when you add weight to one side.
What would happen to the equilibrium if a reactant is added?
Consider the balance of reactants and products.
Le Chatelier's Principle applies to which aspect in equilibrium?
Is it about equilibrium balance?
Consider the equilibrium system of N2(g) + 3H2(g) ⇌ 2NH3(g). If more H2 is added, calculate the concentrations of all species after equilibrium is re-established, given the initial concentrations are N2 = 1.0 M, H2 = 2.0 M, and NH3 = 0.5 M.
You’ll need to set up the equilibrium expression and solve for x.
In the reaction PCl5(g) ⇌ PCl3(g) + Cl2(g), if the initial concentration of PCl5 is 1.0 M, determine the concentrations of PCl3 and Cl2 at equilibrium when it is found that 0.5 M of PCl5 dissociates.
Remember the moles of products formed from the moles of reactants decomposed.
